Field trip

A two-day trip will be arranged on 28-29 July 2012 after the conference to border of northern Thailand in Chiang Rai province in order to explore regional connectivity through north-south economic corridor development and its implication in the Mekong region. Visits to Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, governmental agencies related to border trades, a local conservation group will be included. Field trip fee is 75 US$ including travelling expense, one-night accommodation. Registration for the field trip can be made via the conference website.

Saturday 28 July 2012

  7.00 -12.00 am Departure from the hotel to Amphoe Chiang Khong, Chiang Rai Province
  12.00 – 13.00 pm Check-in and Lunch at the hotel “Namkhong Riverside Hotel”
 

14.00  - 16.00 pm

Visit the Construction site of the 4th International Mekong Bridge between Thailand and Lao PDR for North-south Economic Corridor, Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province
  17.00 -18.00 pm Discussion with the Mekong Conservation Group
  19.00 pm.

Return to the hotel. Dinner at your own expenses.

  08.00 – 10.00 am. Departure to Chiang Rai city hall
  10.30 – 11.30 am. Lecture by a provincial administrator on  “Border Management”
  12.30 – 13.30 pm. Visit Mae Sai, the border market between Thailand and Myanmar
  14.00 pm. Departure to Chiang Mai
  17.30 pm. Arrive Chiang Mai
